What is amusing is that Apple build such good quality Macbooks now, people are keeping them for 5 years. My 2 and half year old MBP handles any dev task I throw at it fine, can't imagine replacing it for a couple more years at least.

I for one prefer a simple keyboard layout, no number pad, no extra cruft, never use them

That may have been true 5 years ago, but a lot of the newer services require developers to just read the documentation, not have a serious amount of background in the setup of the service they are using. Look at things like ECS and Lambda

They really need to make the VMware integration free. Hard to consider paying when something like docker-compose works well.
