I don't think this differs for LLMs vs any other ML model in production. Folks working in "MLOps" have been thinking about this for quite a while (and most people don't use langchain in production, so that's at leas

W&B makes a lot of sense for model training/tuning analytics and tracking, but seems like major overkill for a lot of other logging. Have you tried alternatives or were you using W&B already so you went with it? What is the maj

The other major vocabulary/semantic shift is that we're comfortable calling applied ML -> AI. Until recently, you would always say ML for applied products, AI was either research or fraud/exaggeration or very least meant y

They don’t run a cloud services company and get a ton of data elsewhere already. Not worth the effort (yet) imho. I could see them getting into it if the TAM truly proves out but so far it’s speculation that this would be huge for someone o

If you have no follow feed and you’re forced to come back and see low effort posts and pictures from influencers instead every time you check it out, yeah, that’ll do it.

Manager of managers is “senior manager” at places like amazon and meta, not even director (source: was one at both these places, though at meta the official title was just engineering manager, you were labeled as a level as M2).

Great to see this, but I’m curious, does this mean we’ll get fewer fchollet tweets that talk up TF and down PyTorch? Is the rivalry done?

Not even a manager, his LI says solutions architect which is neither an engineer or manager so he would not have first hand experience doing it for actual software dev.

Yeah, this seems to be another person trading on the name of amazon for clicks without actual relevant experience. I’ve seen this with folks talking about the amazon writing culture and PR/FAQs who I know for a fact had no products or

Out of school BAs seem like the the best way to waste significant dev time explaining to people who don’t understand the tech or technical documentation what to do.

I disagree, as someone who has been both an engineer and manager, if you want feedback one on one from someone who you know would be valuable, always go for it, but official design reviews end up including many people who don’t matter once

Similar to openai and ai regulation. There’s good business in knocking out your competition by coincidentally picking up the right cause that does so.

That really depends on the size of the feature, but imho we should be reducing the need for meetings/reviews, not adding more. Forcing design reviews just slows people down. Jeffy B's "communication is terrible" are word

The author likely didn’t participate in the away team model as according to LI he was a solutions architect during his time at amazon, so kind of odd to write about it now.

I did this move (then switched back) by learning from a PM I know, doing a lot of reading, then finding a PM role that wanted a strong technical background (in my case in ML at the time). Microsoft also had for a bit back then a habit of hi
