I can think of 3 REI locations that are quite close to a Costco Never thought of that. True, the one REI closest to my home in LA area is just a few blocks away from a Costco, which is pretty close being in LA.

I mean no offense to those 65,000 H1B visa holders but many many of them don't deserve the title 'engineers'. No, not even the title of IT workers . They are quite often simply bodies being pushed by the outsourcing firms to

Very good description of what a manager should be but very few achieve. Most managers seem more happy to be acting like a 'boss'.

Wrote it at 2am so not the best example yes. But how about giving up your job because you want to be fair? Or not accepting a job opening because you want to be fair?

The bloat caused by even a bare minimum WP site versus html/css is breathtaking. Let's say you need to put up a simple brochure type site. You can do alot wih just 2-3 MB text/pics. With WP, it takes about 10MB just to get it

Coming from a similar background like the original poster, I agree with him. And no I didn't run out of money while in college because I went on ski trips. I lived on student loan and credit card just to pay for food and not much else.

There will never be a "fair" global economic system. Have you been "fair" when it comes to dating life? Like letting someone else date that someone you like because you want to be "fair"? Simply put, the pie is

I've heard that being too keen on real estate is a common pitfall for middle class investors. I'm in US but I agree. I'm not old enough yet (I hope) but most of friends' parents lost all they had later in their life an

This story really made me reflect on my own similar past. Growing up poor in US as son of immigrant family and somehow getting into a nationally well known college (public though), I was shocked to see things that I had never known about. T

I wonder SpaceX opening an office in Seattle was just to make it easier to hire away engineers from Bezos?

I don't know who started this pissing contest but from what I heard it started when Bezos hired a top engineer away from SpaceX for Blue Origin, basically poaching. Either way, Bezos can p--s all he wants with his shorter rocket that c

I was a student in Berkeley in 1990's. Soon after Netscape's successful IPO, I distinctively remember a CS student commenting on a change in the make up of students (mainly business school types) hacking away in the CS lab. You ca

Pretty sure most people at Tesla/SpaceX ARE afraid of Elon. Especially if you have MBA :), which most senior people in a sales organization probably have.

There's a reason the drone is made to land going directly down, vertically, once it reaches the destination. If drones do get shot down, I'm sure Amazon will eventually deploy escort drones that sense where the shots come from. lo

It would be extremely naive to think that wars will stop once the conflict with or in ME goes away. Once that ME problem goes away (however unlikely), something ELSE will come up to cause wars to start. It could be water, economy, power.

There will be wars. Not just over what West has done to ME. It will be over money, water, power, etc etc. And without those high tech weapons, a lot of warm bodies would be required to pick up a gun and shoot to kill. Close enough to see wi

NO. You are misunderstanding my point. If we had no such high tech weapons (jets, drones, tanks), we'd be reduced to maintaining large armies, requiring service of fit males. Wars don't happen because someone is right or wrong. Wa
