Whenever working with a new codebase I always try to find the route definitions file first. Something that maps the api interface to the functions they call. I can then reason backwards from any service by clicking into whatever I’m interes

I agree, building the mental map of written characters->translation was certainly difficult early on. Duo is not going to be as good as institutional schooling or immersion but I don't think it has to be to be considered a net posit

My personal experience leads me to disagree. I've been using Duolingo to learn Chinese for about 400 days now. I recently took another step and started taking private zoom lessons and my tutor said a few of her students have come from

No we should not. We should hunt down those individuals that are responsible but if we get into this tit for tat escalation pattern it might end poorly for all parties involved.

Just to clarify, you measured hummingbirds at 50db? Birds had millions of years to optimize for lower energy consumption which makes me wonder if it could be mechanized. I understand where you're coming from with the plane analogy. I&#

A cursory google search has birds at around 30db and a DJI drone at around 1000x louder at 70db. I think this is something that can be worked on and improved. Also, I'd love to hunt duck one of these days, sounds like a very unique exp

Agreed. In my opinion, great writing has to be within the context of the time. A lot of us speak in a manner similar to how PG writes. You wouldn't consider great writing from 1890 with the same set of rules as you would something writ
