Having money just gives you more choices. The paradox of choice, however, is very real (at least speaking for myself) and often when you do find yourself in a situation where you have a lot of choices you can easily end up confused, anxious

Why is it easy to believe all tech companies are filled with foreign agents but hard to believe that any of them could rise to senior management? If anything, a desirable goal of getting hired as a foreign agent at one of these companies wo

I've found I need structure and accountability, which is annoying since usually that means you're spending money (i.e. a personal trainer, a paid class/bootcamp instead of googling). A really interesting startup idea would be

And a 3 euro flat tax for economy is small potatoes too. The original argument was that this would really hurt the poor. My counterargument was that flying is still a luxury, and the poor do not fly or fly frequently enough where this would

Business class taxes are 3x-6x economy, so corporations/rich people are paying more. Flying as is is a luxury, economy class or not, and we shouldn't forget that.

Why don't you think there are serious problems with how central banks around the world control money? Inflation steals from everyday people to varying degrees around the world...look at Zimbabwe and Venezuela. We're all beholden t

I think it's the same reasons behind the infamous "Show HN" Dropbox post - technical people have a tendency to be too focused on pointing out technical flaws and miss the bigger picture. Or it's psychological and many fe

Biggest question is if a union or union-like system makes sense in companies where the average tenure is ~2-3 years mostly due to employee choice.

I would say the same for alcohol consumption. Yes, saying you're addicted to alcohol is not socially acceptable, but we've made it not only socially acceptable but socially normative to drink relatively frequently what is object

I think of free time as time spent doing something you want to do, not necessarily time spent doing nothing. If you find work that feels like play, then I'd consider that "time spent doing what you want to do."

This is a very blanket statement. Not all stocks have dividends. Most don't. Some bonds have negative yields. Some consider a store of value to be an investment (like, as you mentioned, gold or silver). Unlike gold or silver, though, t

Alexa feels like like one of those devices that everyone (tech & non-tech people alike) understand to be an always-on recording device, and a proof point that many people do, in fact, choose convenience over privacy.

Why isn't anyone worried about TikTok? Yes, WeChat is largely contained to China, but TikTok/ByteDance is global and a top 10 app in the U.S. It would be naive to think that there isn't a backdoor to that app. And it's v

Are there any private companies actually working on commercializing lab grown meat? Or is it still way too early for that? I'm much more bullish on lab grown meat - the company that can build that will be $100b+ company for sure.

Birthrates in the US are falling every year. The assumption that your typical young person hitting late 20s/30s will get married or have kids and move to the burbs is outdated.
