If it's not documented it's not part of the "public API". Software using Semantic Versioning MUST declare a public API. This API could be declared in the code itself or exist strictly in documentation. However it is don

The Python "argcomplete" module[1] generates shell completions for any program that uses argparse, so it's certainly doable. [1] https://github.com/kislyuk/argcomplete

Indeed. git diff --color-words will often do the trick for prose, but the real solution is plugging a sentence-oriented diff viewer into git difftool. git difftool is extendable by setting git config variables, so it's very much doabl

Too bad it's a mirage I hate to spoil your worldview, but modern C++ is very alive and well in the scientific computing communities. Disney Animation implemented a new renderer using it, and our next movie is currently being rendere

There's a wealth of numerical code in C++. Calling into C is pretty straightforward, but with C++ it's a complicated choice between Swig, sip, shiboken, BoostPython, ..., or hand-writing your language bindings to C++ code in exte

This looks nice. I would suggest avoiding macros in the final release; it should be possible to implement CROW_ROUTE() using template meta-programming instead of #define's.

Binary compatibility is noble goal, but when you have the source code to everything it can also be advantageous to just rebuild dependents. The Windows source code contained lots of extra complexity because of its legacy compatibility comm

Exactly. I feel like this post was blaming Gtk+ when it seems like the real problem was the distro not realizing that their package dependencies didn't trigger a rebuild. If something breaks ABI compatibility, that doesn't mean it
