Helping people out before things get really bad and there are more wars abroad is a good investment. That's why the military has generally been supportive of USAID. In general, it's also better to have friends in the world rather

I so very badly want to find a way to "chart my own course" these days. This corporate stuff is just awful. It's all so transactional and soulless and generally unpleasant. I'm fine with transactional if I'm shoppin

I am really disappointed in PG. He seemed a bit detached from the worst of the 'tech bro' scene. And then, recently, he goes and posts that essay about how 'woke' is this huge problem just as a bunch of flagrant racists

The intelligent response would be "probably not, but we'll see what the investigation says". But imagine if the tables were turned politically. Fox News would be going off 24/7 about "DEI" or some such for week

I saw this comment this morning and it feels pretty accurate: "It’s never a good sign when CEOs think they must literally live in DC to successfully run their businesses." https://bsky.app/profile/prchovanec.b

Local YIMBY groups are a great way to actually do something and see the results. Both of these groups have chapters or local affiliates across the country: https://yimbyaction.org/ https://welcomingneighbors.us

I have friends on Blue Sky that I first met online on IRC in the 1990ies. You just keep migrating and finding your people over time, I guess.
