I only know what I see. Obviously the editorial page is not in favor of Trump. The organization as a whole... IDK, I have a suspicion that they kind of view the chaos as good for business and exciting, rather than 'boring and dull'

And the press did a lot to shape that perception despite both showing signs of decline. That's the point. The coverage was skewed.

And once the race was no longer between two old guys, age ceased to matter much to a number of news outfits. If you look at old Trump interviews, from say 20 years ago, he has absolutely degraded, and not by a small amount.

But once he was out of the race and there was only one old guy, age ceased to become an issue. That's what makes what they're doing kind of insidious. They're not making things up - Biden is indeed old. It's how they wei

Just because it's not uncommon doesn't mean it is not wrong, though! And it's still easier to see in C code than something with a bunch of angly parenthesis.

That's not the point though. If you need the syntax highlighting to quickly make out the structure, perhaps the visual layout is not as good as it could be.

Having 4 spaces as indentation helps people tease out where the branches even are in languages like C or Python or whatever, rather than the 1 or 2 that you see with a lot of Lisp. And those angled parents make lining things up vertically a

This is interesting. Something I long wondered about Lisp code, was how having glyphs that are angled (parenthesis) without much indentation in many cases might be difficult to read just because of the visual aspects of it. (((

Without syntax highlighting, "book.author for book in books if book.page_count > 1000" requires a lot more effort to parse because white space like newlines is not being used to separate things out.

You can make the case for that, but a disorderly transition to that kind of system will ensure that some people starve to death before the new system is in place. I don't have any of the purported 'savings' in my pocket right

These people are breaking things that cannot be fixed quite so easily. Things like the trust of other nations. Scientific research. There are a lot of things that will take a generation or more to repair, if ever.

Math wise, yes, you're correct, but layoffs can also hurt morale, especially if not done well. And in a competitive environment, the most talented people might be next to leave after a layoff, as they see things aren't going wel

I lived through the 1980ies, and I still have trouble processing the idea that the anti-Soviet, rah-rah patriot types that loved movies like Red Dawn are now in bed with the Russians. It's just bizarre.

How would you actually go about doing that? Like if the US economy implodes because enough of this malarkey breaks it, what/where is safe? In terms of your personal wealth/residence, I mean. The only thing I can kind of think of i

I could use some optimistic takes on the future. I read the news if I want dystopian. In everyday life, I do some local work to try and make housing more abundant and less impactful, but it's a small piece of the puzzle.
