Ionide is not quite there yet when it comes to medium/big sized projects. I switched back to Visual Studio because Ionide simply stops working after a while. Even switching branch requires you restart VSCode. So be aware of that. Fanto

Maybe give F# a try. It's functional, strongly typed and since you already know .NET and C# the ecosystem and tooling will be familiar to you and could lessen the learning curve.

In Windows drag & drop for staging files is gone completely. Happy to see now my stashed content in the small sidebar after the remotes. Overall the release isn't that bad in my opinion.

I would say, go with vagrant and laravels homestead box, which comes with PHP 7 already. The documentation is great, so you should be up and running in less then an hour.
