As the great philosopher Inigo Montoya once said: "You keep using that word..." Let's talk about this chart for a second: http://www.google.com//finance?chdnp=1&chdd=1&chds=1... Ok, see that 4000% increase in 18 months? That's wha

Apropos: The saying "It is not sufficient that I succeed. Everyone else must fail" has been associated with Larry Ellison so often that most people think it originated with him. Actually, it came centuries ago with Genghis Khan. Ellison ha

I agree with you hypothetically. But my question was about their real world issues. They could, in theory , have ids for songs-in-playlists. But they don't in fact have them and their RPC api doesn't require them. That's what I'm intereste

Urm, I thought I was agreeing that it's not possible. But I think we're in agreement. In short: you want to offer functions on the server that REST would push on to the client (or would require making architectural changes). REST definite

DELETE /playlist/{playlist id}/{song id}/{index} isn't very RESTful (imo) Your opinion is a fact, imo. Songs can't be deleted from playlists using REST, full stop. Songs-in-playlists are values, not identities, so they can't be resources.

When I started working on the Rdio API I struggled to work out how to effectively expose our API through a more classically REST model, but ultimately there was too much functionality that would be significantly more ugly when forced into

The most interesting thing about this post, to me: it's a reminder that religious people rarely get taken at face value. Which I think is unfortunate for communication. I read the linked Andy Rutledge post in which a religious fundamentalis

Jazz sounds awful. I can understand styles of music sounding awful, but what does it mean for a whole genre of music to sound awful? How does that even make sense? Just to be clear, do you think this (Desafinado) sounds awful?: http://ww

How about: load all 63,792 valid games into a relational database and automagically get pure functions along with an algebra for function composition. Simple, clean, straightforward. Denotational semantics. Is that cheating?

There is of course some truth to that, but in this case I think it's a bit unfair to conservatives. The words "freedom" and "liberty" do have reasonably consistent and coherent conservative meanings. They're just different than what liberta
