I think they're trying to interest actual girls (read "from 7 to 22") in technology and coding.

Hard not to agree here. It's one thing if you're architecting your side project to handle millions of requests from the outset but I think designing for 30,000 notes will give you a better design at 30 notes too. One example where

Installed. Nice little utility. As others probably do, I have ~/.ssh/config set up so that it's as easy as `ssh us1` to SSH into a server.

Would a judge approve the warrant though? Just because this person communicated with Assange?

I thought david.neocities.org should have been taken, now that you point it out.

Oddly I got this in Chrome latest (Mac OS X) but it worked fine Incognito. Very impressive when it works.

JX9 was what got me too. "Based on JSON..." didn't prepare me for the code samples. I can't think of a reason to invent a new language (that has to be learnt) as opposed to JavaScript or Lua.

You'd hear it depending on the formality of the piece, I think. Maybe there is a gender bias, but I've definitely read those persons' first names, especially in less formal writing (and Tumblr has a relationship with Yahoo! and Marissa afte

I think it's fair to say that they thought it through. They also talked to NASA [1] so NASA would have told them if there was a better way (e.g. hard drive) than downloading over the net. [1] “We called them up and said, ‘hey we’re going t

I think it looks very clean. I've always liked Lua's use of full keywords (e.g. function and end) and if the function didn't take any arguments then how would you know it's a terra function?

Yes, but in this case the buyer sees $230 in their shopping cart but actually gets charged €230. Which is nearly $300. It's fine if Geeksphone decide to charge the same in dollars and euro, but they're displaying in one currency and chargin

This is a completely different issue. The site is mixing up dollars and euro so it's overcharging. It's not a conscious price decision they've made.

You could buy a pre-paid card and just use it to buy the phone.

Exact same experience for me. Hit some database errors along the way but I managed to pay and verify the MasterCard transaction. Then nothing on the "My Orders". No email confirmation. Emailed them and fingers crossed a peak will be on it

Never heard of that usage. I'd consider the "rough drawing" meaning of "doodle" very very common.

Same here. Might be due to serving from raw.github.com. AFAIK it's not meant to be used as a CDN.

Funny enough, I went and put in `while (true) {}` and the right hand side did show an error about it running too long. But I clicked Save and was prompted to create an account (or "...I don't want to be awesome...") and I couldn't click the

I see both sides here. My main concern with this approach is the false sense of security it might create. In my experience , the separation of cities into "good" and "bad" areas is only valid in aggregate. I'd rather someone took precaution

I wrote a corrections request to both Reuters and The Wrap. Little good it will do, I'm sure, but it offends me to see a journalist spend so little effort trying to be correct. How absurd to use quotes which actually indicate the opposite o

I think this app works at a lower level though, by intercepting TCP connections. To show you the URL it would have to proxy all the traffic and understand the HTTP protocol.

Correct, however the Bitcoin website has an answer for that: upgrade. The cryptographic methods are not fixed for all time, we can switch to other methods (which are quantum-resistant) when it becomes necessary.

@apievangelist: I'm not sure if there's something temporarily wrong, but most of the links in the article go to empty holding pages, and there's very little Qwerly-related info.

I see your point, and while it is largely sensible (both ideas and execution matter), it doesn't seem to add enough because no one is really trying to argue the other side. We all agree that the idea matters, and that every now and then the

I agree getting it ready for "easy" install takes a lot more work than completing the coding. I wonder what feature, or combination of features, is the differentiator here? Maybe it's the speed of search, or the loose document schemas combi

It seems like a strange thing to provide as a SAAS. Unless you're hosted in the same datacenter, the web latency would surely make the speed of it irrelevant. They mention they're "working on a way for developers to run ThriftDB locally" wh
