I just tried it out and it apparently highjacks normal command-line editing shortcuts like ctrl-n, ctrl-p, ctrl-h, etc.

Yep. Because of the terribleness of locales, you should always just roll your own to handle ascii, or use an explicitly unicode-aware function. Anything in libc that relies on locale is unusable because of this. Besides, isspace is such a t

You can’t pass an array by value and you can’t pass a pointer with a corresponding length of non-fixed size (you can actually with VLAs, but frankly the syntax sucks and not all compilers support it). This missing language feature has led t

I enjoy programming in C a lot, though I wish they would fix C's biggest mistake[1]. [1] < https://digitalmars.com/articles/C-biggest-mistake.html >

Python and Javascript programmers so massively outnumber all other programmers that they are the majority of people converting to any language.

pascal strings are terrible, the correct solution is to just always have pointer+length and even better to make that a built-in type for all types.

For snprintf I use stb sprintf [1]. For the reasonable functions from string.h (memset, memcpy, memmove), you can just use compiler builtins (__builtin_memset, etc.) as long as you enable the bulk memory extension (-mbulk-memory). I haven’t

I’ve been enjoying writing libraries in C and being able to use them both from native applications and in web apps via WASM. I personally avoid emscripten and just implement the minimal C/JS glue and utilities myself.

> I personally know of a few large companies laying off devs over this. They’re laying people off and replacing them with chat gpt generating code? That seems... aggressive. Or are they laying off devs who copy-pasted gpt-generate code?

Get a sleep study. You can still suffer from reduced airflow at night even if it doesn’t translate to actual obstructive events. Or it could be something else.

It’s not super difficult to embed python, but it ain’t easy. It is also very slow and insists on stat’ing a million files all over the disk when starting up. It’s also hard to stop python code from doing things it really shouldn’t, like cal
