The author mentions SICP, but apparently fails to remember the numerous instances where the SICP authors use closures to hide implementation details. I remain unconvinced that exposing implementation details for the sake of testability is a

I don't have high hopes. 1) He's not working in the open, he just says "I will free it, honest." Maybe he'll go through with it, but as of now he's distributing proprietary software. 2) He says that some of the

I'm just going to go ahead and say that if someone wants to stick with Emacs for all of their editing to learn the traditional Emacs key bindings and not use evil-mode.

I love Emacs. I'm much happier now that I live in Emacs. I work on a Ruby on Rails application at work and I use Emacs not only to write code but to run tests, use the rails console, use the MySQL console, bundle update, use git, etc.

Why so many proprietary, web-based RSS readers? There are plenty of free readers so it's silly to get locked-in to yet another web-based RSS reader that will shut down some day.

Guile is a very capable Scheme implementation that was made to be the official GNU extension language. It features a very nice C API and FFI. Racket and Guile have different design goals. Guile fits Emacs' edit-the-editor-while-you-edit par

If the Guile-Emacs project is successful, GNU Guile will be the VM in which Elisp and Scheme code is run. This means that Emacs will finally gain such features as an FFI.

Here's a handy article about Scheme implementations written by the Guile co-maintainer. Look for the heading "The Scheme for SICP". http://wingolog.org/archives/2013/01/07/an-opinionated-guide... tl;dr - he recommends the SICP mode for Ra
