I got lucky and built a Micro-SaaS that grew to a healthy ARR. At least, I assume I got lucky. I’ve only done this once. Twice? I have yet to attempt. I remember the early days of painful uncertainty and minuscule MRR before I really unders

Straightforward, useful advice. I pretty much do all of these when I start new Django projects. The need for a custom User model makes me a little sad every time because, well, single `name` fields (rather than `first_name`, `last_name`) an

I recently saw SQLite used (and written to) in a Docker container, with the database file on a mounted volume. That made me nervous! I don't know enough about how Docker implements volumes under the hood to know how likely (or not) it

I love seeing new search engines and this appears to be very well done. The web needs better visibility into its blogs. Bravo! I wonder about the use of MarketRank. For instance, search for "COVID" and your top hit will be from Al

Hi all, I wanted to play with blockchain data at scale and ended up making this "endless waterfall" visualization of recent NFT events. Hopefully it's fun way to poke around at the sometimes amusing, sometimes disturbing worl

I've wanted someone to do this at scale for such a long time. It's funny; it's another great way to highlight the sound and fury signifying nothing that is NFTs. You can call them "fantasy NFTs" and explain that the

I’m not sure that Bitcoin offers any special insight here. We use email; it’s very much a crypto-less federated system that works at scale (of, more or less, every Internet user!) And there are newer examples: while it’s by no means a Twitt

It's a good question. I don't know if this is helpful, but: I dipped my toes in with Solidity and Ethereum on day one, and used Hardhat to help set up a local blockchain, dev environment, and test suite. I quickly found myself scr

Right. In the case of USDC, whoever has the private key to their proxy contract’s owner account. You’re trusting their engineering team to do the right thing. (EDIT: if I’m reading my etherscan correctly, it’s account 0xfcb19e6a322b27c06842

Yes, 100%. It’s one reason why I mentioned Tezos: it has upgradability and upgrade governance built in from day one, which — if nothing else — I think is an interesting design point.
