I'm sure BBC News still has some sort of metrics that it presents to people for budgeting/promotions.

Related, Dan Luu has a great article [1] where he looks at software hiring/organizations from the "market for lemons" angle. [1]: https://danluu.com/hiring-lemons/

It looks like the app only sent song selections so there's no "communication" in general. > The alleged eavesdropping would deliver user information – including song selections . . . [GP's source] --- Honestly I think

To a lesser extent there’s also an anti multilevel marketing movement. Groups whose soul purpose is to trash talk something are loathsome, even if the target deserves it.

This is just using different scales to mislead. 25GB/hr is about 7MB/s which isn't even the computing power of a cell phone.

What's interesting is that this idea has (very loose) roots in antiquity. Many beliefs had deities of fate that controlled the destinies of mortals by weaving. source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fates

Subs keep their air at significantly lower oxygen concentrations for fire safety reasons which may contribute to the stress. I had a teacher tell stories about sailors putting bags over whatever emitted the oxygen and then breathing it dire

Client-side prediction does a very good job of hiding the network latency. Granted a lot of games run their servers at lowish ticks/sec (people do complain though) which is 30ms worst case at 32tps.

I followed up on the wiki article. The citation was a just eurogamer article that had little to with human perception of latency. It did have this nugget: “Criterion said it was aiming for 50ms latency [for burnout paradise]” which agrees w

It seems like all the major players are taking game streaming seriously. I'm still not very sure about the viability. There's the obvious DRM win. Accessibility will be higher with way lower or non-existent hardware costs. These p

Doubly linked lists are used all over for low level programming. For low access, large dynamic data they're a pretty good solution AFAIK.

I work with FPGAs professionally. I'd tend to agree with OP that FPGAs are a dead end, considering that the trend is to bake in as much hard IP as possible and have a dual core CPU on every chip.

I agree with other companies being worse influences than FB. Though I'd guess that FB is the target for these articles just because of brand recognition in the publisher's target demographics.
