This may be true for honest people, but I’ve been dealing with people recently abusing the chargeback system because they just don’t want to pay. (It’s mostly young users in Brazil) Very frustrating as a seller.

I see your point, but I actually had the opposite concern when I was first looking at the product page. I'd actually rather not have to worry about how my OS treats the extra "display" - plus I don't want running my keyb

I don’t think they are some evil scourge on humanity, but I also don’t like them and won’t work for them. For a few reasons: they copy/steal or acquire all their new ideas, have diluted most of the real human element of their social ne

Plus, who is going to want a shitty picture of a monkey when the chips are down? If that's your concern at least hoard Bitcoin or something.

How would Babel stop existing though if JavaScript keeps evolving? Is the goal that we all are using evergreen browsers and versions of Node and thus have no need to support older runtimes?

Very true. Although, as an aside since you brought it up: I will say shopping on Google has gotten far worse these days days with all the SEO optimized "top 10 best X" pages that are basically just affiliate link spam with extreme

That's one of the big problems with these types of AI - piggybacking on everyone else's work, typically with no attribution _whatsoever_.

Trust me - outside of the HN technical crowd - people get very confused or scared by this and do not know how to proceed. It's a non-starter for most software aimed at the 'everyday user' crowd (I've seen the bug reports

But if you open an app whose developer didn't pay Apple $100/year you will be SURE to know how risky that is and that macOS blocked it for you!

Yeah but when you are first starting out it really doesn't matter - what matters more is keeping interested enough to keep learning and growing from wherever you start.

Sure, but for a lot of people sites like Twitter are their way of spreading information and having discussions online. Sadly the days of everyone hosting their own personal site or blog are gone for most of the less technically savvy.

Seriously - 480i is pretty awful these days. I don't even watch YouTube videos at that resolution on my phone. I can't imagine watching full movies at that resolution in 2022.

Curious: are you concerned about data leaks or you don't trust the employees to not access your user data? Or something else?

I disagree. This "corporate drama" really does impact users, as well as developers (most of the HN crowd).

Agreed. It's too difficult to move off of iPhone/Apple products, but I really want to do something to force them to stop with the anticompetative BS.
