100% agree. At 42 I’ve come to realise it’s about quality and not quantity of friends. Also, maybe making friends gradually via a common interest is better than trying to force it.

It’s also about efficiency my friend. I don’t grammar check every message I send to a colleague during the day. I think you’re thinking of lawyers rather than software engineers.

It’s not so much the working from home itself but the fact that my 2 kids are crawling over me while I’m coding, and jumping onto my video calls, since the schools are closed.

I’d ask why they used Erlang to build WhatsApp in the first place instead of Java. I suspect it’s what’s that had at the time

Yeah it’s really nice. Xcode runs really fast. Wish it had more ports. That’s my only gripe.

I can’t remember if it was always that way. When the App Store opened I guess there was a standard price of 59p for an app. Before that, 59p would have been seen as a ridiculous price to pay for a copy of software. Imagine buying windows 95

Very good point. People will happily pay 50 pounds a month for an IPhone and thinking nothing of it. But then really struggle to pay a penny for an app that runs in that iPhone. There’s some funny psychology going on.

What if I remember it as “Always Mid-day”. What you you start to remember it as that from now on now that you’ve read this? There are no winners here.

Band Mule is a band organiser app that has chat built in to it. As well as a calendar, scheduler, set list manager and audio player.

Has anyone recently tried searching for ‘Signal’ to check this? I don’t see any Facebook Messenger ads personally. Think this is a bit of marketing from Signal.

To find a leak in a bike tyre you need to hold it in a basin of water and look for air escaping. Same for data.

I think we’ll be on Java 20 at least and IntelliJ will have some nice new shortcuts. React will get even more over engineered no developer left on the planet will understand any exiting code. The web will then be in a permanent state from 2

Not being funny, but when Signal gets enough users, what’s stopping them relenting on their promises of privacy and punting the company to Facebook just like what happened with WhatsApp? It would almost be a good business plan.
