I have a sister and a step-sister who are both chiropractors. Apparently there are two disjoint schools of thought within chiropractry, at least in Australia. My sister does the science based stuff that's mostly about the back and very clo

There's probably two sets of people at work in the statement. The people who made the frameworks would require a good understand as well as the idea that an abstraction might make life easier. The side effect is that if you create a good en

I wasn't knocking your blog, and I assumed from your current blogs welcome message that there were other blogs out there and the current one might not be representative. From what I've seen you write pretty clearly and lay your ideas out w

I don't want to be harsh, but I took a look at your blog, and I'm struggling to come up with some kind of reasonable measure for "complex subjects" that matches any of the entries. And with 8 entries the "all the time" bit doesn't seem tha

More than some, I think. Most strong crypto short of one-time pads makes use of NP (or at least problems solvable by NP problems, factoring is probably a little easier than NP). NP is nice for crypto since it has P time checkable solutions

I thought protein folding was harder than NP. IIRC, calculating the free energy of a molecule is in #P (count the number of solutions to a problem in NP), and you still need to step it through time or otherwise deal with the actual folding

I've handed my copy to a few people now, some found it intimidating it first but I don't think it's genius level material. Just take it a page at a time and keep in mind that it'll be worth it. Oh yeah - and if you're struggling with the m

You could duplicate the system - so you have something like "White House 2" and "anti-White House 2" - try to get each group to focus on getting their ideas / facts / opinions organised rather than on sinking each other ships. It'd potentia

Gah - too late to edit. I was wondering specifically about how would it effect development mailing lists - with wave plugins to look at patches / browse repositories / review code things could get pretty interesting. Although with non-devel

It seems to be acting like a lot of communication tools at once. If there's some way to partition the usage up somehow then it's like a combination of several quality tools in the one place with the option to let the borders blur. It'd be n

Well, if you're going to try to reinvent email you've got a better chance at making whitelists useful. Even if your inbox (or whatever the wave equivalent is) could divide incoming waves based on whether they were from whitelisted contacts

It doesn't seem like it's about getting a better result. As far as I can see it's allowing people to get a result in less time. Imagine if CSS made you style every element individually, so you had to specify the full path through the DOM b

I don't think it's that much of a miracle - Cobham's "The intrinsic computational difficulty of functions" covered it pretty well - or least explained the intuition behind why it's a pretty sensible idea - and he (along with Jack Edmonds) p
