The failure rate of condoms you cite is referring to unplanned pregnancies, 18% of unplanned pregnancies are caused by condoms. That doesn't mean that everytime you have sex with a condom, you have a 18% chance of making a baby

Censoring something is the lazy way of getting people to conform to your ideals. Imagine that instead of a censor campaign, the UK government had made an attempt to educate the public on the effects of porn. This could be done with adverts

when it says that the half-life of the rhodopsin molecule is about 420 years, does that mean that if we would live that long, half of our rhodopsin will be gone? how would that affect our eyesight?

The proper term for this type of collision detection is 'Continuous Collision Detection.' The math breaks down when you introduce rotation and you end up having to binary search to find when the collision will occur
