1. Proportion of people who die due to violence/suicide. Bit tricky to define this rigorously. Does euthanasia count? Abortions? Starvation due to war? To market economics? I’m not sure how applicable it would be to a hive mind species

We can support maybe half our current population with our available agricultural land. Having to rely on food imports has only been a problem during world wars.

Surely there is a browser plug-in that will allow you to prefer light mode for some sites and dark mode for others? Or even add a toggle to the browser UI? I don’t see the value in having this implemented by individual websites.

Speaking generally (as I am currently between roles) the whole team always comes to retro, including the team’s product person. Sometimes external people (e.g. from Customer Success) have been invited as well. And I’ve never seen any proble

Something I don’t understand is: why do we need to allow the user to explicitly set dark mode or light mode? Why can’t we just check prefers-color-scheme and leave it at that?

Action items should be assigned to named individuals, and should be reviewed at the start of the next retro. Hold people accountable if they ignored their action items.

Positive population growth implies positive economic growth. As a superrich capitalist, he can skim more (in absolute terms) off the top.

In certain cases, yeah, why not? For example, maybe at an epidemiology or food hygiene conference, or for Halloween. But in general, no.

Fastly is still out of budget for hobbyists who want to run their logic at the edge. For comparison, Cloudflare Workers starts at $5/month. It would be nice if Fastly could make the stuff that’s only free for 30 days available at a sim

To add to what everyone else has said, there was also new competition from mailing lists administered via the web, and from web based forums. I feel like Google Groups deserves a (dis)honourable mention here — it was a free web-based interf

Looks like the interesting stuff is only on a 30 day free trial. If you want to use it for a hobby site beyond that, you need to pay US$50+/month.

No. When they want to talk to me, they can talk to me. If they want to talk to me after I’m dead… they will need to come to terms with me being dead. I don’t see how a jumped up Markov chain pretending to be me will help with that.
