I'm guessing this is the first example of device created with the Nokia brand as part of the licensing deal mentioned earlier this week [0]. They're simply cashing in on the value of that brand, and I worry ultimately it'll e

Thanks! Aberlug seems dead (I've visited the IRC channel and it seems pretty inactive). I didn't know about the two other sites, so thanks for the leads.

This is a great idea. I really wish we had half the community community you guys have, here in Aberdeen, Scotland. You could throw a rock and hit a tech guy in SF. Here, the only groups of any prominence are MS .Net groups. I've been s

While the article itself was interesting (if not at all surprising), one thing that really caught my eye was the reference to 1 Bessborough Gardens. There are few references to it online, other than a planning permission application [1] men

I think the big difference today is that the runtime (often cloud) and toolchain are much more involved. Nothing is self-contained any more. Dependencies are out of control. Web apps make it easy for the user to access almost any service fr

It's worth noting that with HDR+ enabled on the Nexus 5, you can no longer enable the flash or timer. And the processing time can feel frustratingly long. So leaving it enabled all the time doesn't work for everyone.

The issue is how to know when the self-signed cert if trustworthy. I agree that the root CA trust system is not the answer, and web of trust doesn't work in practice, but I don't know how we can know if a self-signed cert is trust

To be fair, I don't personally trust the root CAs that my browsers and OS's trust. There are hundreds of them, from many countries. I think it's a reasonable expectation that at least some are corrupt. Unless I trust each CA,

I really don't like the sound of this. The SIM card is the one thing that keeps mobile service relatively divorced from the hardware. I can keep the same phone but change SIM whenever it suits. I can also take change hardware and just

Yeah, the xfce4-screenshooter tool is fantastic. The only thing that would make it more useful would be if the panel plugin had an option to show a drop-down when clicked, allowing you to select screen, region or window. I always forget my

I didn't realise passing under the Clyde had such an affect, that's quite interesting. I would have thought, however, that being mixed overground/underground (on many London lines) would make air circulation an easier problem

I did have this thought. I figured people must just accept it (like people living in humid countries might), or shower at work (if they have those facilities). Or perhaps it's only that bad during some months of the year.
