Hello. For a while I've been adding links to this repo in my spare time. Machine learning is a fast moving field, and new techniques are constantly emerging in research. While the formulation of an ML concept as it's used today ma

This is actually a very interesting point that I've come across on a few different platforms recently (Patreon, for example, [also targets their homepage to creators, not consumers]( https://www.patreon.com/) ). I wonder

Speaking as a data scientist and not a software engineer, I think Jupyter is incredibly valuable and I've been excited to see it develop pretty quickly in the few years I've been using it. I agree with you that it's not a too

This article is oddly similar to the Daring Fireball article that just came out and was just posted on HN. Both talk about how, 10 years in, the iPad has failed to revolutionize computing and both complain about awkward UX. https:/&#x

For Mac, I'm a big fan of Numi. You can assign results to variables, use those variables in more calculations, and if you go back and edit a definition, the changes immediately propagate to any other expression using that variable. ht

I think the same thing happened with Digg -> Reddit. People got sick of Digg and moved to the underdog, which has since grown to be much bigger than Digg ever was (with the pros and cons of that growth). I would argue that the platform i

I've used Fleksy for over a year and wasn't aware of that feature. The in-app purchases are themes which I don't need. If you don't open the settings, you would never know these upsells existed. It's a great keyboar

I personally use Numi, which is very similar. I like the ability to assign variables and reuse them (and change the value of the variable on the fly, instantly redoing all other calculations). https://numi.io/

As far as I'm concerned, Pinboard is the most reasonably managed digital product I pay for. No feature creep, no bloat, no overthinking it. While Maciej notes accurately that death comes for us all, he's already outlasted the theo

I reached out to the author because I've been a user of the app for several years, but I haven't heard back (this was only a few days ago). I'm hoping it can continue in some form.

It is sincere. If you are working with structured documents, then accessing only an arbitrary line of the file in a performant way (especially if the documents are large) is a useful task. I see it also has facilities for handling CSVs, whe

I also have a 2015 MBP at work, though newer hires have the ones with the new keyboard and touch bar, and while I primarily work at my desk with a keyboard plugged in (the basic apple keyboard, no numpad), I certainly go to meetings and wor

Love this, and great job with the test coverage too, I might use this in a project I'm working on right now. Is it effectively feature complete or do you have plans for more?

We've started using DBT at my office for ETL into our data warehouse and it's a godsend. Being able to add tests to tables and views, built in documentation support, built in DAGs are all great, and the folks at Fishtown who make

Do you have any examples of things due for a refactor? As another commenter mentioned, mathematical notation and language have evolved heavily over time. When you talk about abstractions, what in particular do you mean? Math is in many ways

I'm also from the US and visited Prague last fall. The tour guide encouraged us to try Kofola and also had a funny urban legend story about it's origin (I forget what it was). I tried it and found it...not so great :p

I don't care for Confluence at all. It feels engineered to death (as does Jira, for that matter)—it can do everything, but nothing well. I've been trying to organize my team's Confluence space but I'm constantly confused

I believe you, and I've seen what appears to be the same effect first-hand, but it has not been replicated in controlled environments. Here's a non-scientific article which cites several studies which failed to find a correlation:

Your last note about kids being wired on sugar, while pervasive and seemingly anecdotally supported, has not been proven out in the literature. Sugar has not been conclusively found to cause hyperactivity.
