It kind of weird to have employees without an office. How could that happen?

Most people do not understand this and think that we can reall talk about nuclear vs solar when we really need to talk about an energy mix where you pick one point (for example you pick nuclear or solar) and the rest depends on this choice.

The major point here is that nuclear is controllable energy type while solar is not. So comparing only the price is apples to oranges comparison. Most human energy consumers need energy with a fixed rate and all physical metrics withing a t

THe green narrative fromt the 70s is still strong today. Many of my friends still believe that nuclear is the most dangerous source of energy even though the per TWh metrics are pretty clear.

Not really. Check out that reddit thread it goes into details about this topic. It has surprising details.

The peasant had to pay 20% tax and had free housing and food and worked half the amount of hours / year that we work. And they got revolutions. What does it tell about us?

Exactly. People sold on AI replacing software engineers are missing the point. It is almost the say that better laptops are replacing software engineers. LLMs are just tools that make you faster. Finding bugs, writing documentation, etc. ar

I am not sure how good these Exercism tasks are for measuring how good at a model with coding. My experience is that these models could write a simple function and get it right if it does not require any out of the box thinking (so essentia

Vertical integration is what is missing for a long time. I was trying to use Linux and FreeBSD previously and it is just a great time sink. Anyways, at least I learned a lot about Linux and it helped me got a job as a systems engineer years

If you check the TCO than probably it pays off. I am not sure about how much harder it is. I do not use lifetimes and I clone a lot. Still the performance and the reliability a Rust project has vs. Python is insane.

Do you think that pip could be re-implemented in Python and it would result in this performance that we are observing with uv?

Interesting. So pip install times did not make them to kill each other and the result is sometimes works, but if we wait on cargo build somehow it triggers them.

Now we should just figure out why to stop here. Why not write everything in Rust? Recently I have moved all my projects to Rust from Python and never looked back. Of course we need projects like Torch and we are not yet there, but those sim

Sorry, but there many people who do not like bloat, bad practicies and daily security bugs, partially because of the aformentioned bloat. If we settle this "gets the job done" mindset we are never going to improve.

Exactly that. There was not a single global civilization on Earth that had low per capita energy use. High energy use per capita starts with the price.

> that the point of switching to electricity is to be able to use renewables. You mean using energy sources that have a much better / kwh performance (both in terms of reduction of ecological footprint and price)?
