It's hard to find prices for Atlas, even more so for the so-far-unflown dual engine Centaur version which CST-100 uses, but it's clear that it's a lot more expensive than a Falcon 9.

I'm not sure it's a particularly rare combination. There's little about technology that demands urbanism, and in the 80s and 90s there seemed to be a fairly clear picture (exemplified by the concept of telecommuting) of tech

There has been a fairly big swing back towards "programming is a team sport" since then. My memories of the 80s and 90s was that programming was something frequently done in a suburban, or sometimes even rural, setting. Since the

Have you actually seen a ticket at that price? The cheapest tickets I can see for today are £39.85 and for next Tuesday are £35.50. Presumably there are some £12.50 tickets available, but they're not easy to find (my understanding fro

I'm also surprised we don't see more remote work in the more computational bits of academia, but there's still a widespread view that remote work is bad for team cohesion and serendipitous collaboration. Were one cynically in

But to implement that, you still need some administration to work out who's eligible for welfare and who needs to work. Basic Income schemes potentially eliminate this requirement.

I agree this is a pain, and IMO a bad mistake by Microsoft. However, Windows XP was released in 2001, replaced (Vista) in 2007, reached end of mainstream support in 2009, and users have been warned it's going away for many, many years.
