My biggest complaint is that it doesn’t keep a history! One misclicked “remember password” at the wrong moment (safari plugin often guesses password fields wrong) and you’ve just locked yourself out of your bank account. Literally happened

Considering peanut allergies are ~1:50 - 1:200, that would be a lot of dead infants and I think that would show up in stats and news.

Adrian is a great guy and I highly recommend all his content. For undergrad level PL, I highly recommend Dan Grossman's MOOC[0] or recent class recorded lectures[1]. Dan's thesis work strongly influenced Rust's borrow checker

Just take it back, pay compensation. People r so scared to set a bad precedent for future business deals and yet businesses repeatedly don’t care about leveraging every advantage they have for profit over people.

Personally I hate this question. And I get it in every interview. Somehow my brain just doesn't care to remember the gritty details for tough bugs. I'll spend days on a bug but soon after I solve it I'll only remember the act

The sampling biases are _really_ important here, stated another way: Of developers who use WakaTime, most use Windows. Of developers who answer StackOverflow surveys, most use Linux. These aren't contradictions.

“Reasonable” is doing some heavy lifting, but i just spent another 10 minutes hunting through all the in-app settings menus I could find and I haven’t found a way to disable these alerts. They certainly don’t want you to disable deal notifi

Why? It’s our government (in theory), no reason we shouldn’t make laws to the benefit of the people. When the private sector consistently refuses to self regulate bad behavior, the law can and should step in.

Ads via notifications should be regulated. For example, I have notifications enabled for Amazon because I need to know when a delivery is coming but they’ll use that channel to spam me about “deals”. There’s no reasonable way to disable all

Yes, the Specialized is much lighter. I mention still being able to hang the bike because that's the situation where I notice the extra weight the most. If I couldn't, it would have been a deal breaker for me.

Does anyone know the names of the key people behind Rosetta 2? In my experience, exceptionally well executed tech like this tends to have 1-2 very talented people leading. I'd like to follow their blog or Twitter.

UW receives 37% of its funding from the state, the rest comes from tuition[0]. In 2002, it was 70% from the state. And of tuition, at least ~25% of that comes from public sources (grants, subsides loans)[1]. And even if some public universi
