I think 3 is not only a natural state, but the best state. I don’t think we can have 1 language that satisfies the needs of all people who write code, and thus, we can’t have 1 syntax that does that either. 3 seems the only sensible solutio

Personally, I didn’t find the Minecraft demo very impressive, aside from the speed of inference. 20fps is quite an achievement, generating Minecraft screenshots, not as much.

The best thing to come out of crypto hype is the attention to Markel trees. That probably played a part I. The development of CRDTs, which are straight up magic.

What if all religions just lead to cult like dystopias. It’d just be the end state of any human society to be just awful.

Yeah it is strange how they make the model sound like it can generate any environment, but only shows demos of the most data-available game ever.

It’s a cool concept, but I’d be very surprised if it gets much better than this. “Playable” statistical models seem to miss the point of games entirely

Car ownership can definitely become a past fad. How many people still own their music library vs subscribing to Spotify? I think the rampant success of streaming services and subscription services shows how little people really care about o

Observations are anecdotal. Since a lot of LLMs are non deterministic due to their sampling step, you could give rhe same survey to the same LLM many times and receive different results. And we don’t have a good measure for emergent intelli

I don’t think there are any reasonable arguments against that point, but “LLMs are more than just words” is sort of unfalsifiable, so you can never convince someone otherwise if they’re really into that idea. From a product point of view, s

The most popular lisp dialects are linked list based (Common Lisp, scheme, guix I think as well) No need to be pedantic. Obviously I’m not talking about a random toy lisp someone hacked together. Linked lisps have their uses, obviously, but

The issue with lisp is that linked lists kind of suck on modern hardware.

I had a kagi account for a year, but it’s just bing with some admittedly nice features on top. I don’t get the results because there’s just not a lot of people talking about what I’m interested in.

I see no reason why GitHub wouldn’t use fine tuned models from google or anthropic. I think their version of gpt-3.5 was a fine tune as well. I doubt they had a whole model from scratch made just for them.

Yeah, Claude consistently impresses me. A commenter on another thread mentioned it but it’s very similar to how search felt in the early 2000s. I ask it a question and get my answer. Sometimes it’s a little (or a lot) wrong or outdated, but
