I only check during the morning while my adderall is kicking in and I don't go past the first page. This allows me to go as deep as I want and do some exploring still, but with limits. It's just taken practice over the years becau

I think the rule "Don't interrupt" still holds, but is more nuanced. If you just cut someone off while they are talking and start saying whatever you had been wanting to say that whole time, I'd consider that interruptin

Yeah. At my last job we made a pivot table tool feature into our project and we named it Pito after Pito Salas, thinking we were so clever and finally came up with a slick little branding for a feature. But that's slang for penis in Sp

Why did they blur the information when there are pretty advanced de-blurring algorithms out there? Seems like if you want to redact the information you need to completely omit the subsequent pixels rather than just adding a blur effect. Per

Is the algorithm that manages the ranking here well known? I'd suspect that it isn't just based on stars.

I'd say I do about 40% raw ado and 60% ORM overall. I think raw ado is completely valid in a performance benchmark because you usually step down to raw ado for that very reason: optimizing performance.

Great idea. It'd be great if you could select a game / category. Reason is I'd actually be able to have an actual chat with someone if I knew something about the game.

Looks like gpm commented with more context on this and your comment is likely still more correct than my response: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23019121

I think it's shutdown of the computer, not shutdown of VS code. The updater starts executing during the shutdown and I'm guessing the system is terminating the install process and it's not rolling back appropriately (or it is

That's a good point, additional items could be included, though the installer code seems to be included in the source code: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/blob/master/build/win32/...

When I first read this issue, I was assuming the user was losing unsaved code in their editor, which seemed like user error and I thought they had resolved that issue long ago. After reading the comments and reading the summary again, I

Maybe that is what rentals at Blockbuster cost at the end of their run (or before they were super popular). I used to go to a wonderful local movie store for $0.99 - $1.99 rentals because blockbuster was $3.99+ a rental. Granted, that was f

I feel like I saw something about how the JIT only checks the bounds once when going in reverse, but I can't find anything concrete to back that up, so we'll have to go with the 10 year old write-up for now saying: no, it is not o

Unlikely because you aren't going to share personal, identifiable information with this service; you would just send the primary key of the user in your database (usually an integer, guid, etc, as long as you aren't using some str

The terms are broad in GDPR, so you need the DPA just for Amazon to store it, as that's "processing". However, you don't need your users to confirm that, they agree to share the information with you (controller) and you&

You can absolutely store IP addresses (and other personal information) without consent and be GDPR compliant. You just need to explain what you are storing, for what purpose, who you share it with, how long it's stored, and comply with
