The bit about adding it to the website seems like a misinterpretation/over-extrapolation of something said in a briefing about it, specifically that the news feed would be brought to mobile web browsers 'in some form' (see qu

I doubt this anecdote. There was no such test in 2011, and I haven't heard any tales from older timers about it either. It sounds like it's conflating some totally optional style-guide-conformance procedures you can do, with permi

No idea this person's track record (nor the record of the japanese writer being cited) but this site asserts that all iPhones 7 have the same NFC chip and that a future iOS version (11?) will enable it worldwide. https://ata

Huh, there actually used to be a real benefit - free Drive storage upgrades once you hit a certain tier. Guess things got popular enough they ditched it. (disclaimer: work on maps, nothing to do with guides tho)

I think it's a YMMV thing. I'm at google, and I'm pretty certain that a lot of my improvement as a programmer came from time spent posting/irc-ing with the SA programmer crew, to the degree that I don't think I woul

The title is "Why Google Pixel lags 10x more than Moto Z" but the content is just a microbenchmark of fsync() without anything resembling a measurement of UI lag or that the 10x slowdown in fsync() actually means a 10x (or any) in

Nothing was 'taken away' for pre-M users either, at least Maps-wise. This article (as originally written, they've updated it since) was stating that a privacy feature that never existed had been taken away. There never was a

The sinister reason for this is that Google wants better data about places (so the service is more useful, so more people use it, so more ads are served, and so on).

It's not dead. It's manager dependent, I guess - It's not carte blanche to do whatever you want (was it ever?), so whatever you're doing needs to have, or potentially have, _some_ value to Google, but the bar for that va

The last exploit I found in windows took about 6 months to get patched (this was in 2010, they may have improved). It was a 'ping of death' style instant bluescreen from one packet kind of exploit. 10 days is _nothing_.
