It happened because even here on HN there are many tech people that were dismissing DRMs, secure enclave and remote attestation as "it's not a big deal" or "they have their part because an evil maid sent by a state actor

It's your vision and you are completely free to have it, obviously, but you should not project it on every tinkerer out there - like you did in your initial message. Yours is actually an extreme position that's probably exacerbate

Focusing more on the "social side" rather the HW part, there is the part about the "Viral email", which must have been something that went viral in the UK Internet circles but not outside (I don't remember it and Y2

PlantNet seems pretty open as well right? Looks like is from several public institutions so it should be ads and trackers free, can you confirm?

And the cherry on the cake: you get paid to work on your engineering project, get traction around it as opensource and if there is enough traction, leave the company and spin-off a new one to sell the same product to other companies! It

If we start from GP premises where they were multi-vendor on ZigBee and now (allegedly) are living a much better mono-vendor life with Matter, you cannot play the multi-vendors card. I'm on ZigBee multi-vendor orchestrated by Zigbee2MQ

Cool that there is something else. There was also EventBrite but I guess that got enshittified as well. Anyway my question was more in the realm of: if people stays, their play works. Not justifying the modus operandi, just stating that th

Leaving aside the discussion on LLMs intelligence vs human intelligence, on a purely energy consumption level we are definitely and without any possible questioning nowhere near that indeed.

I think that word/clipart posters make it clearer the date and time, with GenAI material you end upo adding a big colorful image that takes most of the space and relegate the important bit to a second place. At least that's what I

It's my very same exact opinion and as an EM I'm trying to push this everywhere (team, peers, upwards) but it feels like speaking to a rubber wall. It starts to be exhausting and infuriating. This is not an "LLMs are bad"

Indeed. Just like OSX 10.6.8, Windows XP SP2 was the version that made Windows XP actually stable, and then SP3 added on top of that. But initial Windows XP (not even SP1) sucked big times indeed. Although not like Windows Millennium :)

In Spain you cannit withdraw it, only spend it with the same provider. If you migrate it, you lose it. And it makes sense because it's for self-consumption, you are not an energy micro-provider.

It's not a cost if you self-consume your energy, even if you get paid for what you inject. You are just amortizing differently the cost of the PV installation. But what you get for the energy you sell is not real money, it's jus
