I really do feel like “power tool” is the ultimate metaphor for these things. Their interface naturally confuses us into anthropomorphising them, but once you stop treating them like intelligent agents and start treating them with the same

So, I’ve used BBEdit briefly in the past, and I’m familiar with its stellar reputation. But I’m confused by some of the comments here. Are people mainly using it in place of something like Obsidian? Vim? Emacs? VS Code? Notes? It doesn’t lo

I’ve set up two static pages with custom domains using GH Pages in the past couple of months, and both times I had to go digging in the docs before I found the verification page as part of trying to figure out why https wasn’t working. Fuck

I bought an 8gb M1 Air in 2020 (for what now feels like an absurdly small sum of money) as an experiment in how-cheap-is-too-cheap / chuckable travel laptop. I ended up using it as my main laptop for 2 years without regret, then handed

Have been keeping an eye on this. Hoping they’ll add the A1 family at some point.

Can anyone in the commentariat recommend a great, locally available adhesive in Japan? Vision Miner is import-only and pricey. I’ve been using glue-sticks but am ready to level up as I’m moving away from PLA.

Man, I’m jealous of those of you who have the skills to do an ICE/BEV conversion. I have this total baseless fantasy that when I retire, I will open a little boutique shop doing conversions of old ICE vehicles into BEVs. Sadly, I have

I’m sure they did. No evidence to suggest there was an intelligence failure, afaik. The failures are, on the evidence, entirely at the, shall we say, executive level.

OK Computer (1997). Mezzanine (1998). New Forms (1997). Peak trip hop and drum and bass. I remember it being pretty great. But yeah, I was like 17, so … Edit: commenter below with Underworld - 100%.

As long as you stay under the 1-hour caching TTL for your open threads, I guess your marginal cost is linear. This is me on a weekday flicking between Ghostty tabs to enter “stand by” every ~45 mins.

Copilot showing up unbidden on my PRs was the final straw for me. Well, actually, the final straw was not being able to figure out how to turn it off. We all saw this coming when the Microsoft acquisition happened. They constitutionally can

Okay very interesting. Thanks for the detailed answer. I looked into it a bit more[1], it sounds like the valve is producing 1.5 bar. A very nice stovetop for a moka, but probably not a good fit for me. [1] https://www.reddit.com

I’ve used cafetière off-and-on in the past but felt that I could never get the pressure high enough and the amount short enough. You’re saying that the Brikka produces enough pressure for an espresso? Is this something specific to the Brikk

I keep reading about this, but I have never, ever seen it. Daily Claude Max user for ~6 months. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s never once happened to me.

I mean, the really good ones can be beautiful, terrifying, balletic displays of dominance, skill and tactical intelligence. There’s nothing in all of gaming quite like being hunted by a human being. It’s a real thrill.

The multiplayer stuff with kernel level anti-cheat - it’s mostly the kind of thing that’s also on console. I bought a PS5 for that and called it a day. Desktop rig runs Bazzite and I’ve a Steam Deck. They play most everything in my Steam li

Did you guys look at Firecracker-based options such as E2B and Fly.io? We’ve had positive early results on latency, but yeah … too early to tell where we end up on cost.

Yeah, some of the uplift people are anecdotally seeing from “just using the filesystem” is, imo, on account of how difficult it is to take a principled approach to pre-chunking when implementing other approaches.

Absolutely, agentic search is much more robust to the specific implementation details of your search setup (data quality issues, too) than the early one-shot approaches were. Anyone watching Claude Code work can see this for themselves.

Thank you very much to both of you. Got it running flawlessly with CM on Steam Deck OLED at 90fps using GE-Proton10.34 and LSFG-VK for frame-gen. This one goes straight to the top (alongside DR2.0 and AC Rally) as favourite gaming on the go

That’s excellent, thanks for the heads up! By chance, RPS covered the Mulholland Drive mod recently and I’m keen to try it on Bazzite. I would definitely prefer to go the GE-Proton route. To clarify, what do you mean by “fresh”? Just the mo

Me too. My weapon of choice is the Dualsense. Lots of great things about it in addition to gyro controls: as of late last year you can pair 4 devices with it. I have one Dualsense and roam between PS5, Bazzite desktop and Steam Deck seamles
