Isn't the idea that AGI could replace a bunch of labor allowing us to help more poor and increase net positive vibes or just have more leisure time? Obviously the way our economy and society are structured that's not what will hap

No offense to the very hardworking H1B guys I've worked with, but I'm not a fan because they'll do anything the company says. They are used as scabs to undermine developers leverage. This was especially clear during RTO. It&#

Well, if it barks like a dog... But seriously, the accurate simulation of something to the point of being indiscernible is achieved and measured, from a practical sense, by how similar that simulation can impersonate the original in many cr

I think your approach is reasonably ethical. I'm not all that concerned with ethics; rather the continued funding of the websites we like. One important element of your first hypothetical is that a donation model probably won't su

I'm glad you are willing to pay hundreds for that, at least you're consistent. But I think you are out of touch with how most people who use ad blockers think. People want free stuff. They are entitled. And when they have successf

I doubt it. In my experience those that block ads feel entitled to the content without payment of any kind. They see ads as an intrusion rather than a fair exchange. No, I don't see you turning it back on regardless of how things go. T

As long as someone who does this is prepared to pay for every site they do it on (or forgo the site in the future), since targeted advertising often pays for the site they're visiting. Personally I would like to see ads improved, not r

Yeah there's discussion about this in scientific articles I've read, where at a certain point the social circle exists on these apps, and by a single individual removing themselves they are forced to effectively choose isolation.

Bruh we are slave to the machine. Most of us want to get in, get our paycheck, let the boss feel smart, and go back to our actual lives. Programmers tend to overinflate the influence of their job in their personal lives.

The AirPods show a thoughtful commitment to the human experience. The Vision Pro also demonstrates a focus on the human and social experience. Where they have lost their vision is in the iPhone and Mac lines which are simply so profitable t

It is endlessly frustrating that my company aggressively deletes slack messages after 14 days. As a consequence, they're paying for slack and effectively using it like a basic chat client because the lawyers are simple minded fools.

I feel that deconstructing the entire culture of race is not really a practical suggestion for solving the issue. This outcome is not uncommon when you ask those against DEI how they would solve it. Often they recommend systematic solutions

Ah, but I would guess those are low quality users, i.e. they don't vote, they don't comment, they don't post. While that doesn't matter to advertisers, it does matter to the health of your content network. And their feat

Agreed. I think the other commenter saying Netflix won the war is not talking to any normal folk. Netflix feels a lot like Facebook does. Sure, it was amazing in the beginning. But now we mostly have it because we had it before. I'm al
