This is a timely topic for me. I'm just beginning the writing of a technical book. I plan to target epub/mobi. My research thus far has pointed to markdown -> html -> epub/mobi. If you were going to write a technical eb

Would you expect a WinAmp clone to comply with Apple's user interface guidelines?

Yes, it would. It would be trivial to add errno as an instance variable for File_Handle class though.

What type of business was it? What kind of functionality did this TUI application provide?

Yes! I was just pointing it out to show that they had at least thought of Japanese users (in some small way).

Yes, I'm quite sure that's true in most cases. FWIW, dBASE IV version 1.5 does support Japanese for date format. It's one of the options for 'SET DATE' command.

Curious as to whether there are any real-world use cases for doing this (other than curiosity) in DOS. If so, I'd love to hear about them.

"IBM who just didn't seem to know how to sell software like OS/2" Clearly, IBM was never that great at marketing much of anything IMO. However, many at the time also believed that in addition to not being that good at ma

In the OS/2 2.x days my primary means of interacting with other OS/2 folks was the Canopus (Wil Zachman) forum on Compuserve (75060,264 checking in). Weird that I still remember my Comuserve user id! At that time, there was a some

Yes, stability! It was very nice when doing DOS or Windows 3.x development. The only stability gotcha was when some OS/2 PM application hung the input queue and then the whole of PM became unresponsive. The base OS continued running fi

I'd bet you never seriously used Borland's Turbo Pascal for DOS versions 5.5 or 6.0. That IDE was extremely FAST. A lot of really good software was written in it back in the day (pre-internet).

Some do and some don't. Have you ever used any to develop an application? I suppose a lot of it is also relative. When I started with TUIs decades ago, we didn't have too many options. Turbo Pascal 5.5 or 6.0 was extremely nice to

Delphi is still very impressive. However, they missed out on a much greater opportunity. Part of Delphi's crown jewels is VCL which can only be used on Windows. If you use Delphi for an OS other than Windows you have to use FireMonkey&
