Physical measures might make yourself much more expensive to surveil, to the point of not being worth it. You can avoid being the "easy picking".

In the 60s you could buy a median home with 2.1x the median income. In 2019, the ratio is 3.5x. https://themreport.com/news/data/02-02-2021/pressing-housing...

I use SimpleScreenRecorder. You can choose "Separate file per segment", and each time you pause you get a new file. I then delete the mistaken takes, and concatenate everything with an FFMPEG script.

Ah. Apologies. But the same is true for cooling. I can't work if it's hotter than 26C. About radiant heat: it is nowhere near the comfort of uniform whole-room heating.

My soul abhors waste and enjoys comfort. I would feel terrible either knowing I'm wasting half my heating energy, or freezing in my home.

I am skeptical even the bottom line gains from it. Whenever I click a Short, I am extremely annoyed. The scroll wheel is repurposed to skip the video, rather than the typical desktop interaction of going to the description and comments. Whe

The AI is not the reason for the poor experience. The poor experience is caused by misguided policies excessively pushing for features (like Shorts). An AI would have toned it down long ago. I also think Shorts is garbage, especially for a

I am not proposing it to be immediate. I am merely asking for a commitment to gradually reduce greenhouse emissions. Thankfully the US rejoined the Paris agreement.

They could have said nothing. They could have told the truth. They could have said that people should wear whatever masks or textiles they can.

Google and Facebook are so big and so closely tied to the government, they might as well be another branch of government. They might not even be financially viable without government deals like PRISM.

No. For instance, on YouTube, even mentioning COVID would get you demonetized. Thunderf00t's video debunking lack of oxygen through masks was even taken down repeatedly. [1] And in the beginning, there were recommendations NOT to wear

But you should address citizen concerns, rather than oppress them. For example: yes, the vaccine has side-effects. But here is the data on which we decided to still approve it: a much better aggregate health outcome and lower risk of death.

Indeed. For as long as it costs more than fuel, only greenwashers will buy it. This is a red herring distracting you from the fact that oil is subsidized when it should be taxed.

Ah, well, only second-hand for me then. Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully my laptop will outlast these tyrannical practices. If it doesn't, I'll just skip the dedicated GPU entirely.

Excellent. Die, nVidia. I will never buy another nVidia card. They have made the firmware only modifiable to themselves. This forbids you from slowing down the card, for instance to run at a lower temperature (and prolong its life). "L

My guess is the reason is C++ is complicated. When you have restrictive conventions, it is easier for a new dev to get onboard, as well as for creating static analysis tools.
