That's insane. I would never want to work in a country with laws like that. Market rate is based on what something worth, not what it costs or what it previously cost so there is no reason for a company to need to know what you previously

If they're going to retract over a couple of grand that means they're insanely cheap. Why would you want to work for an insanely cheap company?

Good points. I would say that it's better to have too much, so long as I can ignore the bad parts (e.g. checked exceptions) than not enough as in C. I also disagree about exceptions. It does make control flow trickier to follow, but the p

Again, I just don't agree with this. I think non-English speaking groups are expanding enough that there is plenty of opportunity out there without knowing English. No, you wont get to be an officer in an English speaking US company but t

Cisco's always been honest like that. I don't care too much for their products or strategies but I admire the honesty within the company. After the bubble popped the company I was in came up with this idiotic new plan: if you want a raise

Online is a different world. Don't assume those who "get" brick and mortar can also "get" online. When walmart first chose to go online they realized this might be a problem and hired a group out of California (this was during the dot com

I'm pragmatic as well. What I find frustrating about this blatant Google fanboy-ism is that it is hypocritical on its face: any normal company thing they do gets trumpeted as "don't do evil! Weeeeee!" and every evil thing is defended wit

Why does it matter? Google is an entity. Even if they only mean to use patents defensively today that doesn't say anything about what they will do 5 years from now.

There is an insane amount of money in drugs. Some of this money can be used to erect barriers to entry against such profit seekers. I don't know that that's the case, but it could be speculated at least.
