Technically, QLC NAND that is no longer able to distinguish at QLC levels should certainly still be suitable as MLC for a while longer, and SLC, for all practical intents and purposes, forever.

YMMV. I have always had extremely pleasant, hassle-free, and fast support and warranty from Dell. It's not that their monitors or laptops fail more often, I've just been buying them for a decade.

You're probably buying consumer microSD cards. If you buy high endurance or industrial ones, they tend to be pretty reliable in my opinion; no less than a branded NVMe or SSD.

Apple’s lawyers advised them that they can provide that statement. It’s probably a weasel word, technically true statement.

From pacemakers, Google Maps, to Wi-Fi, I wouldn't say Australians can't develop advanced technologies.

PE realises you can fire most of the team and stop R&D, jack up prices by 50-100% due to lock in, and have something low risk that returns like four times bonds.

It’s probably just a good rule of thumb. 10%? Go away. 20%? You can certainly negotiate it up to 30%. 30%? There’s considerable value here, and threats to walk away will be felt. 40%? Why, when you can get it to 30%?

That you cannot verify matches the source code. Telegram is shady, but the points made has a point. Not having reproducible builds on iOS is disappointing for such a security-critical product.

Few thoughts here: 1. You can't fit a XXX billion param model on an iPhone. It's just impossible. A mixed approach where most ML is local; but some are cloud, fits with their existing Siri approach. 2. OpenAI won't share mode

The role of a maintainer is more than copying and pasting upstream. They are allowed to exercise their judgement in what they believe is appropriate for end users of a distribution. In this case, there does seem to be reasonable security ju

I one purchased a Coffee Lake SFF PC from eBay from a fleet reseller, and I discovered a "ME DISABLED" sticker on the chassis when I received it. Sure enough, every single software tool, or the BIOS/UEFI itself suggests ME is

Theoretically there's no reason why this shouldn't work, but you likely will find the software isn't designed for multi-GPU and have to reimplement/fix things yourself. You will also be getting about 720GB/s of memo

It’s certainly not orders of magnitudes higher. A S21 Hydro can do a terahash for 16 joules. At the current difficulty, you need approx 525,000 kWh to mine a bitcoin. At $0.16 a kWh, you’re looking at $84k to mine a bitcoin, worth $63k. Tha

Research would be considered fair use. But you can’t just claim research and get a pass, it has to hold up in court.

Not exactly. Clean room reimpmentations are fine, and has been upheld in court. I think the copyright office even has a published exemption for it. The issue is when you bypass encryption keys and systems.

Is it? I imagine you only really have to build a different persistence backend. Then, everything else can go through that. Git in itself is designed to be distributed.

I wonder if there’s a “git over BitTorrent”. Having a cryptographically signed (by authors, not by GitHub) and fully open source git hosting network would be a boom for FOSS security in general.

This need wasn’t super prevalent in the pre LLM days. It’s rare to have a multi-GB blob that should be commonly used across sites.
