Wouldn't you need to re-run across lots of samples (even for a single eval/bench) to avoid outsized impacts from just bad luck?

There's stuff like SOC controls and enterprise contracts with enforceable penalties if clauses are breached. ZDR is a thing. The most significant value of open source models come from being able to fine-tune; with a good dataset and li

Another annoyance (for more API use) is summarized/hidden reasoning traces. It makes prompt debugging and optimization much harder, since you literally don't have much visibility into the real thinking process.

Their financial projections that to a big part their valuation and investor story is built on involves actually making money, and lots of money, at some point. That money has to come from somewhere.

Hmm, the Flash performs significantly better than Pro in the benchmark? That's very strange; could rate limiting cause that?

Offline mode, and self-hostable apps. I'm very happy with my self-hosted and open source apps; e.g. photo library, media centres, etc; the convenience of cloud, but my cloud that I fully control.

Are there better providers for inferencing this right now? I know it's launch day, but openrouter showing 30tps isn't looking great.

I do think Nvidia isn't that badly priced; they still have the dominance in training and the proven execution Biggest risk I see is Nvidia having delays / bad luck with R&D / meh generations for long enough to depress the

Yeah, open weights is really good, especially when base models (not just the instruction tuned) weights are released like here.

Yeah, subscriptions used to be extraordinarily generous. I miss those days, but the reinvigoration of open weight models is super exciting. I'm still playing with the new Qwen3.6 35B and impressed, now DeepSeek v4 drops; with both base

Research and training costs have to be amortized from somewhere; and labs are always training. I'm definitely keen for the financials when the two files for IPO though, it would be interesting to see; although I'm sure it won'

Their subscription subscribers will see/feel the difference irregardless, API pricing is hopefully read by devs that know about token efficiency and effort.

That’s a serious red flag. I’m concerned and I don’t think it shows a security first culture.

Hopefully not, because checking your codebase for vulnerabilities is really valuable. I hope it’s just limits on pentesting and stuff, and not for code analysis and review.

Try GPT-5.5 as your daily driver for a bit. It felt a lot smarter, reliable, and I was much more productive with it.

You’re still the one that’s controlling the model though and steering it with your expertise. At least that’s what I tell myself at night :) I haven’t really thought about this before, but you’re right, it feels a bit uneasy for me too.

It's genuinely so great at long horizon tasks! GPT-5.5 solved many long-horizon frontier challenges, for the first time for an AI model we've tested, in our internal evals at Canva :) Congrats on the launch!

It's far more meaningful to look at the actual cost to successfully something. The token efficiency of GPT-5.5 is real; as well as it just being far better for work.

Evaluating different quant levels for your use case is a problem you can pretty reliably throw at a coding agent and leave overnight though. At least, it should give you a much smaller shortlist.

LLMs are explicitly designed to handle, and also possibly 'learn' from different tokens encoding similar information. I found this video from 3blue1brown very informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjZofJX0v4

A little bit of post-training will fix that. Folks on /r/LocalLLaMa have been making effective finetunes with diff. tokenizers for years.

I was part of the exodus too, I spent hours everyday on Digg before switching to Reddit. I remember, and Digg staff’s nonchalant/hostile responses to the community also hurt. I wasn’t trying to provide a complete biopsy, I’m just expla
