I presented my findings at the HN Cologne Meetup yesterday evening and one attendant had the same issues with Hacker News HD. I guess I have to revise my conclusions.

That is strange, Hacker News HD works fine for me and never crashed during my tests. I found Hacker News! (the app with the blue icon) to be very unstable.

Well, it is available on the store. I didn't check the support pages, to be honest.

Unfortunately, the situation on the iPad is similar, 2 out of 5 apps are totally useless and the reviews don't really help. That's why I wrote this review.

Don't feel bad. I have to admit, I too was thinking that your project description was pretty detailed but somehow lacking, until I learned about the 1000 character limit, which "Mr. Case" forgot to mention or wasn't aware of. So I think it

The importance of proper rehearsal cannot be emphasized enough. Record yourself during practice and don't stop until you would be comfortable with uploading the result to Youtube. With enough practice, you can be confident that you will be

The app is basically a Facebook client, so I would not consider it scammy to put "for Facebook" into the name. Other apps are doing that as well, e.g. "Twitterrific for Twitter" [1]. There might be a trademark issue, but I didn't check the

I suggest that you mention that adding the campaign button to the page is only a matter of adding the generated HTML snippet, something like "it's as simple as embedding a YouTube video". Maybe you can also create a separate step-by-step vi

That's a great looking product for such a short time. I really like the looks of the video, but for me it was a bit light on information. You are explaining how the viral effect works, but I also want to know how the campaign creator works.

Of course you can sell a small business, the question is at what price. If your potential for growth is limited, you won't get a Twitter-like valuation, but if your business is solid and profitable, someone might be willing to pay a couple

A great idea, both the app and this post! Unless the unobstrusiveness is the main selling point, I would drop "A small unobtrusive app that allows you to" from the description and just go with "Achieve unrivaled precision with your mouse".

All items on the list sound reasonable, but I think it should be ordered the other way around. Begin with play and build . If you spend to much time on reading and research on the beginning without actually getting your feet wet you migh

I'm not a big fan of prohibitive IT departments, but this article is probably as biased as you'd expect an article from a major SaaS provider to be. I witnessed the shift from a very restrictive environment (central SVN accessible only thro

How do you ensure that you learn the style specific to a certain language and not just literally translate from a language you already know? E.g. in Java, you would probably solve problem 1 with a for loop, while you could use a generator e

Interesting, thanks! One suggestion: I would move the note You can test regexp using DuckDuckGo further to the top. IMHO that's a killer feature!

Thanks for that post, I didn't know Qwerly, that might come handy. I wonder how DuckDuckGo decides which API to query. Gabriel, could you shed some light on this?

I usually get up around 7:30, so getting up at 6:00 is somewhat special. Maybe the effect wears down once you get used to rising early.

From my experience, the big advantage of waking up early to hack on a side project vs. staying up late is that I'm way more focused in the morning. If I manage to drag myself out of bed early, I don't waste the time with mindless surfing. Y

You bring up an interesting factor I didn't really take into account. It probably makes no economic sense to run a car for 1M miles considering the high costs of labour. The question is whether it is possible to run a modern car for so long
