I like the idea, but I have to wonder if the 0.6% fee would be enough to make their form of socially responsible investing underperform the benchmarks.

I agree with you. But, IANAL so I have no idea if it's legal or enforceable. Given the "what right does Mojang have?" question, though, the answer is that assuming the EULA for the server code is enforceable, copyright is t

This looks cool and I'll take some time to read the docs in depth. I wonder when Atwood's Law will kick in and we'll see more ambitious JavaScript-based tools like this (maybe with sweet.js macros to provide higher level cons

This post didn't strike me as a ton of anything. It was pretty succinct. I agree with stormbrew above that the value here is in stating clearly what the purpose of a monad is as a way to lead in to a better understanding of a monad. Wi

Most (all?) of those 270 static site generators generate HTML files that sit on disk on the server. This tool takes markdown files with a single script tag and serves that up to the client. While I'm pretty sure I've seen this ide

It's hard to say what, exactly, you're referring to here. React, in many ways, is not so much a framework but rather a really smart template system. It's ergonomics, I've found, are quite nice.

In my experience, JavaScript is quite fast in most browsers. Communication between the DOM and JavaScript is much slower and causing lots of layout invalidation and repaints absolutely kills an app's perceived performance. React's

We use kanban for the Brackets[1] project, so I've been looking into tools like this recently. The most promising one I've seen so far is Octokan[2]. What I like about Octokan is that it: 1. uses GitHub Issue labels to represent t

When Jobs came back to Apple, Apple was not in solid financial health. That's not a good time to have a dividend. If they needed to deploy all of their cash for growth, I'm sure they would. The trouble is that they have so much ca

Does Google crawl this documentation? I know they have some JS support in their crawler, but is it enough that it would actually index a docsite built with this tool?

The use of setState in React strikes me as a code smell. React has two ways to provide state for components: props and state. I prefer using React in a more functional style: your model is managed separate from the view and updates are hand

I find that the TypeScript compiler is annoyingly slow and I cringe imagining a workflow that involves another compiler in front of the TypeScript compiler. Granted, you'd probably do most of your tests and such at the C# level and onl

React basically eliminates the need for something like the apply cycle, because you just re-render from the top whenever something changes. React is the view layer, but its approach is different enough that you may restructure (and simpli

That's how we work on Brackets[1], and I think a lot of projects work that way. It depends what kind of version control system you use. It's pretty easy to do this with the "GitHub flow". [1]: https://github.c
