Yeah, as an engineer it sounds like a blast. If I could line up work doing that week after week I'd definitely give it a go for a while.

I look at it like this: There are 4 directions that a software project can be constrained: Time, price, scope, and quality. 1. Elance or ODesk can offer you fixed time, price, and scope, but highly erratic quality. 2. An expensive contracti

Not only that, the email provides me no incentive to resubscribe. It's just like, "Hey! wanna get emails from us again?!!" If they gave me some good reason I might have been interested, but the way it's written it's

I know! If nothing else, it's REALLY BAD PR. No other company has ever done this to me. Leave it to some manager at Microsoft to OK this.

Can a company legally send you a message asking you to resubscribe?

I'm pretty skeptical about resale value on the Model S at 5 or more years out just because their newer models will have major technical advances and the cost of a battery replacement. It's hard to speculate on that right now since

100% agree. Here's a related question: How many people do you think the NSA employs to work on open source software and blend into the community, establish credibility, etc. Is the answer zero people? Given what we know about the NSA n

That's a slippery slope. By that logic no company can be critiqued for security failures. Linode was storing their shell passwords in clear text. To me that's where I draw the line. On the other hand, if there were good alternativ

Outside of the standard SSD drives, DO has not had any major data breaches that I'm aware of. That's a pretty big one. At this point recommending Linode to a company I work for seems borderline negligent considering their security

I don't see any mention of these "AppCoins" being a decentralized crypto-currency. It's kind of interesting that you assumed that. I did too. It shows how our perspectives have been changed by Bitcoin's existence.

I'm convinced this is the best way to do it. I was testing one of those apps that repeats what you say and they did something like this. They popped up a dialog that said, "We are going to ask for access to the Microphone. We need

I meant drawing skills. I agree with you it's not a fair characterization of art at all, but probably a mistake on my part due to years of "art" class in school which was typically resigned to painting/drawing/craft

Since phones have clocks on them isn't a watch really just a fashion accessory now? What makes it more likely than any other wearable computer? I guess I'm just not sure if watches are a big enough market for Apple. They seem kind

Wow these contributions are a huge deal for Mono. I've spent the last few months making sure C# code works well in Mono and there are a lot of things that are missing or buggy. WebClient for example on Mono is missing DNS refresh timeo

That's extremely interesting, but how does it jive with the emails about the Safari team? The Safari team probably has some management, but I assume it does not have a sales department.

I'm not sure I would refer to Steam as a DRM platform. Steam application deployment does have apis built in for DRM, but they are not required for release by Valve. It's up to the developer to decide if they want to DRM lock their
