Every person I've asked (here in Sweden) who opted out of COVID-19 vaccination made their decision based on one year of case data covering the two first waves, which to them concluded that statistically they were at no risk based on th

Ripping these original vinyl editions is already somewhere on my list of things-to-do-before-I-get-too-old. Currently I don't have a functional pickup for my record player. I will get around to it, some day. The Switched-On Boxed Set (

Owed to my father's long interest in electronic music, I'm the thankful owner of several of the 1960s/1970s original print Walter Carlos-attributed vinyl records and a few of the 1980s Wendy Carlos-attributed ones. Switched-O

Does anyone happen to know if gTLD operators are allowed to make price hikes targeted at a specific premium domain name? For example if the operator noticed that the product/brand/company/site associated with some domain had

Your hunch is off. We version-control DDL/DML/DQL/etc. like any other software.

If the suggestion truly is to try squeeze as much utility as possible out of a single RDMBS setup, and if you already need and use an RDBMS, then I would consider it as an option. If not, it's an absolutely idiotic choice. And that

We version-control our SPs/funcs. We have unit tests, we have integration tests.

I second that. SPs/funcs have this weird tendency to always stay hidden in the fringes and out of sight, easily forgotten when adding new functionality, easily overlooked when making changes elsewhere.

Python 3 really changed a lot, more than I realized. My experiences with Nuitka are against Python 2 from a couple of years back, at a point where Nuitka marketed itself using its performance increases and brought (at least) a 3-5x speedup

Nuitka's primary aim is performance, more so than self-contained deployment. It's a bit strange to pit Nuitka against "shipping with Docker". It's also surprising to hear that you saw no performance benefits at all

The immediate difference is that everyone is affected by the Great Firewall, not just "designated persons". How it turns out in practical use surely remains to be seen.

Unlike the UUID scheme, strings of completely random characters don't sort/tree-index very well. Apart from that they are, in my opinion, a much better alternative.

Why would anyone, these days, need a discrete GPU for surfing the web? This detail, too, just like the CPU, falls short on the fact that making actual use of its power cuts battery time down to nothing. They should just market it for what i

In my early 20s when I worked as an electrician I never felt that 40 hour long weeks were too much. Working as a programmer I definitely feel that it is way too much. The head (mine at least) really needs a lot more time to recuperate.
