I made something that achieves the same thing[1] except it uses Google's Programmable Search Engines. It's self-hosted and you can configure it the same way as the article using the `%s` string substitution. [1] https://

I do this by creating a markdown file on my desktop and opening it in VSCode alongside whatever project I'm working on. Once open, I right click the file's tab in VSCode and click "Pin" which locks it into its own tab co

This reminds me of an old idea I called Reverse MFA where the person you're talking to over the phone must provide a valid 6 digit number before you give out personal details like birthday, SSN, etc.

Same. I bought a Vive a few weeks ago but it is currently in the mail being returned. The technology as it is today is just not quite there yet, in my opinion. The biggest letdown was the lack of peripheral vision. To see something clearly,

Thanks for these. I should have clarified, I'm more interested in something that will alert me when newly-discovered vulnerabilities surface. The systems I maintain are protected [enough] today but a new hack could drop that doesn'

Here's another extension you may be interested in[0]. It allows total customization if you don't mind writing a bit of HTML, though it ships with some decent defaults. It's also not 1:1 feature complete with HN but it suits m

Same! Coincidentally, I recently backed up my Angelfire site from the late '90s. A lot of the original links were missing but thankfully they provide a `sitemap.xml` and I used HTTrack to make a local copy.

Google's PSE is neat but there isn't a good way to manage switching between them. They could easily add a little dropdown to let you select which one to use as part of the public link UI they provide for each one individually. Gig

Hey HN! Wanted to share a very small project I put together over the last few days in my free time. MDServe lets you build websites using only Markdown. You can mix-and-match Markdown and HTML as you wish and it comes with a very basic meth

This is neat. Little bit of feedback: 1. Since an account is required, consider adding example output from each step. This could be on a different page other than the homepage titled maybe "Sample cases." Before creating an accoun

I discovered Google's Programmable Search Engine service but was not happy with their default interface. There's no way to seamlessly switch between engines either. I looked around but didn't see any out of the box solutions
