As someone who's first language is not English it comes off more as a mark of pedant writing. Some folks might enjoy the "storytelling", but it's really annoying when the author goes in circles and gets nowhere until yo

I think what happens with visualization libraries is similar to what happens with things like cars or clothes, there's a lot of diversity because people have different tastes, if it was only about features there would be a lot less var

As someone from a place where tipping doesn't exist, the whole concept of tipping seems crazy to me.

I am all for that, as long as it's the other intolerants that are not tolerating, right? I've since come to the conclusion that it's mostly pointless to talk about "tolerance" and that it's the individual acts

Maybe they would avoid removing features that some users rely on, like bookmark descriptions. And would focus more on what users need instead of what developers think is cool to implement.

The removal of the description field in the bookmarks in the most recent version would be another example of how little they care about us users sometimes. I read the issue where it was discussed and a few suggestions to handle it in a way

If imperial units are so human friendly, why do I have to look them up every time I need to convert between them? I do it occasionally and pretty much the only one I remember is 1 feet = 12 inches. I think the parent is right that it has mo

I've come up with an alternative version of the exercise that might work better: Look at your feet: see those little toes? What if tomorrow - while thinking about some problem with money or love - you get hit by a speeding 10 ton truck

I don't know about the other countries in the map but I can see La Rioja, Spain, which has a bit over 300k people, while Catalonia has more than 7M. So I'm not sure what you're saying really applies.

It's really annoying when a page ignores my language settings and displays the language they want based on location. It's double annoying when there's no way to give feedback without registering.

I'm pretty sure that most modern retro games are not written in assembly, which is what they used in the 80s for consoles. Most modern games are written using modern tools, most old developers that are still making games successfully a

I'm not a native speaker. What does "devil's own leverage" mean in this context? I don't think it's an idiom. Do you mean that their behaviour is what drives everybody else's?

No thanks, a good bed and a good chair are sacred. With food, housing and all the basics covered, they should be pretty high priority. I don't understand how some people can buy a 500€ smartphone and then sleep in a shitty cheap bed.
