For anyone wanting to try something similar yourself, I highly recommend MAL. It's a Lisp dialect designed to be a learning tool: there's a nice guide for implementing the interpreter. It doesn't take much away from the learn

The compelling feature of icon fonts over svg used to be IE8 support. But then there was IE9 mobile, which didn't support @font-face. I remember coding detection for that, and creating a script that automatically generates png versions

Great idea. This would also give a longer lifecycle to submissions. Now most tend to die quite fast, so you don't get answers to comments any more if you're late to the party.

Is there a practical microkernel-based OS (other than Debian GNU/Hurd or such) for PC, or any end-user device for that matter? I know there's L4 which is pretty mainstream on coprocessors.

I think HN needs a way to easily find the top comments. There are absolute gems deep in discussion threads, but you'll need to spend a lot of time reading to find them. Hence, it's very nice of Dan Luu to list some of his favorite

Yep. My favorite games are pretty much: anything by Zachtronics, Rocksmith 2014. Rocksmith does have its annoyances at times, though (the note recognition isn't perfect, so if you don't play absolutely perfectly it's going to

I think it's because of historic baggage and politics. JS used to be a horrible ecosystem where different browsers behaved differently, the language itself had various pitfalls and most code was written in classical script kiddie style

Thanks for the reply. I mistook the sandbox to be related to $sce. It's been a while since I last coded Angular. So you're saying that Mozilla is mistaken in their decision, and the only way for page content to be eval'd with

Obviously. The quoted paragraph is buildup to the fact that AngularJS evals content on purpose, and does not really even try to be secure against maliciously-crafted DOM. Browsers, on the other hand, are designed to resist attacks. But yes,

Many commenters here seem to be completely misunderstanding the situation. Browser extensions are really dangerous; if you need to keep your machine secure, you shouldn't use any IMHO. By definition, browser extensions need to be able

What's the use case for an advanced bookmark manager? Managing (online) scientific references our such? I find that even with a couple of folders of bookmarks in my browser, reading something later just doesn't happen in practice.

Traefik sounds great! I'm using https://github.com/SteveLTN/https-portal which is a Docker container, and that kind of setup is just complicated. Putting the reverse proxy outside sounds much cleaner.
