I wonder what will happen to derivative works based on works that were public domain but then fell into copyright again? [1] https://literary007.com/2016/08/23/licence-expired-the-unaut...

Games like SimCity, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft are good examples where the experience of "playing" isn't necessarily about translating the game from an "initial" state to "end" or "win" one.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify what you meant. I think I can see what you mean about how you don't really have a word to describe the picture you're painting. I don't know if I agree with you about the idea that women

I'm a little confused when you say that feminism "has sold a massive lie to women". Feminism as a topic seems really large to me, and I'm not sure what about it you mean when you say that a big lie has been told. Would y

My first full-time job out of school was exactly like that. At first I found it lonely as a lot of my peers were a decade or two older than me with kids, and mostly treated the job like a 9-5. As investment into the company increased, more

Same thing! After using Linux abroad I started a new job using a Windowns 10 workstation and it showed me a picture of the President of the United States. It took a while to get the menu cleaned up too.

I'm not an expert in this, but the historical Okinawa diet doesn't have as much in simple carbohydrates compared to other lifestyles[1]. I think calorie intake is a notable aspect like you mentioned, but eating foods with a higher

I wasn’t old enough at the time to remember the relative pricing of those things as a consumer, but things like walkmans, televisions, and IBM laptops seemed much more affluent then compared to now.

I agree with you that there should be more options available! It does strike me that if society nudges men a little towards buying clothing “out of need” then I could see how the market expresses more conservative options.

Most game source code I've seen has exhibited this "poorly designed" trait. Some because it was originally written in a single-threaded context and continued to provide shareholder value, and others because it didn't hav

I can't comment on topics such as rioting, but just to clarify, are you talking about bill C-16, or something else? From what I've read, C-16 wouldn't likely result in sentencing jail time for something such as pronoun usage.

I hope that at some point C++ programming can have a solid "good parts" style guide, akin to Crockford's JavaScript book. I feel a lot of that probably isn't conventionally achievable since C++ covers a lot of situations

I was thinking the same thing about TypeScript too. It's certainly catching up, and its a great way of having a gradual shift from dynamic to static types as your requirements crystallize.

Half of my friends have done the same and migrated to the web client. If Facebook is going to hog memory and show data-chugging videos, it might as well do it in a JavaScriptCore VM context so I can stop it when I want to.
