I really enjoy the storage strategy for EnTT. Other ECS games I had known the architecture for were a lot more rigid in terms of space, and it's nice to see more flexibility in that aspect.

Phaser 3 (and its predecessor Phaser 2) provide helper code for managing object pools[1]. I can imagine any non-toy project takes advantage of pooling for speed when it can. [1] https://photonstorm.github.io/phaser3-docs

I think this has been discussed in other threads here, but from my understanding Nintendo 64 emulation has been a little shakier than other consoles.

Is It true that Amazon’s internal chat tool doesn’t have as much support for “fun chat” stuff like stickers and emoji? I’ve been hearing along the grapevine.

Reading your comment really affected me just now. I work in the video games industry, and since entry-level positions are quite competitive (video games are quite popular with younger folks), people make a lot of decisions to take a focused

I think it comes from that the rule is titled "Do not let your children do anything that...". The language states to restrict the child's agency if you disagree with it. I was fortunate enough to grow up with good parents, bu

If we're doing YouTube critique of JP, it should at least include ContraPoints' bath scene. Otherwise it kind feels a bit toothless.

Exactly. There's a pretty wide spead of phenomena we like about video games. I think that's why I suggest a relationship via interaction as a cover-all.

I like the structure of Mark's definitions, but I think it wouldn't define products like Neko Atsume, The Beginner's Guide, or Minecraft as video games. I think we generally consider the aforementioned to be video games, so i

I don't think action that delivers satisfying results is defining a video game. I think it's a relationship formed from inputs and audiovisual responses, like I mentioned. Paratropic isn't really a game about satisfaction and

I've seen a lot of comments or responses from people saying that Animal Crossing's mechanics are unfulfilling or "pointless", but I think they're missing the spirit of what makes them enjoyable to a lot of people. I

I don't think any video game has a meaningful reward loop, and I say this as a game developer. What makes a game's loop good or not to me is if it provides a fulfilling relationship with its audience.

I make games as a hobby, and while I'm often paid to write C++, I'll use plain JavaScript with various libraries (Phaser, three.js, ink, etc.) as iterating is very quick and distributing is as well. I don't think it's a

I think you're right that some things, such as integer addition, are quick and don't require a lot of thought, but a lot of teams leaning to C++ stems from larger-scale performance considerations that aren't one-size-fits-all

Interesting, most examples of toxic masculinity I see are related to machismo when it hurts men and those around them. Wikipedia [1] seems to consider masculinity toxic once it is considered “harm”. I’m curious if you have sources about it
