You just performed the exact rhetorical trick the OP described. You tried to reduce this to “disagreement.” These actions aren’t about disagreement. They’re about violence and sedition.

Wait, what? You’d like to abolish free speech? Or is this an autocorrect for “absolutist?”

I’m noticing that a lot of people in the discussions on this and related topics are spilling ink on themes of free speech and civil rights, while utterly failing to even mention, let alone address, the fact that seditious attacks on our go

No, you’re absolutely right. As someone who uses UTC professionally in aerospace ops, trust me when I say your clock is still definitely tied to solar time even if it’s “off” by whatever. Try using UTC exclusively—I don’t just mean on your

I suspect no matter what we do you’re going to continue arguing in bad faith while pretending nothing happened Wednesday and Trump isn’t sui generis.

No, they care what Trump’s followers think he said, because they’ve already committed one heinous act of violence. Read this carefully. They are looking at the actual response to these tweets. Not their own personal feelings. The actual

Please, can we put this canard to rest? It is an extremely simplistic take that is bordering on cliche at this point. It adds nothing, it illuminates nothing, and it fails to address any of the very real and complex issues by turning everyt

This is no longer just the “President’s voice” being shut down. This is the shutdown of a man who incited a mob to attack the US Capitol.

In my defense, I've been using Unix since the early '90s (was taught Scheme and C on a DEC ULTRIX, and then got my hands on a Turbo NeXTstation). This is a rare gap in my knowledge. ;-)

Light hammers are good for riveting. You need something that won’t overpower whatever you’re using to buck the rivet. (In my case, a three-pound sledgehammer head.)
