Does anyone know if they actually have permission to include the logos of pInterest, LinkedIn, Facebook etc? Couldn't see anything in the article. Aside from that, it's a nice collection which I could see finding a way into many of my proje

I wonder if it would be a good idea to give 'Show HN' posts more prominence as they're less likely to have been reported elsewhere?

Don't they say that "The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly."? NBC were/are a staunch supporter of SOPA. They wanted others to be treated this way, it's only fair they're held to the same standard so that may see h

No, the same tile sets are used in iPhoto for OS X (part of the iLife suite) and some people claim they're used in Aperture (another photo editor but I've not used it). Where they have used it, they used it as hint as to where a photo was t

Has it been confirmed that they're using OSM data or could the data be a product of their acquisition of Placebase (back in 2009)? Apple have actually been using this tile set for a while (it's used in the slide show mode of the current ver

iPhoto for OS X uses the pretty tile set when in slide show mode. I think it has done for the past few versions.

I wonder why the iPod Touch & iPhone are listed separately on that graph (the iPad isn't even listed, I'm not sure if it's included within iPhone or not). If they were combined, Mobile Safari would be ahead by a few percent.

Why would this be so? Surely the inventor could simply licence the patent to a party which does have the capacity to fully the exploit the invention?

I think the author is saying that the Broadcom GPU outperforms both the Tegra 2 (used in Android devices & netbooks) and the iPhone4S's GPU. (edit: fixed typo)

Have you run this past Apple with regards to their App Store approval policy? I'd be worried about clause 2.12: "2.12 Apps that are not very useful, are simply web sites bundled as apps, or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may

I think Microsoft need to get convince the manufacturers that not providing any physical recovery medium is not acceptable. IMHO, a recovery disc or USB drive should be supplied as standard, as part of the Windows licence.

Most manufacturers now rely on a hidden recovery partition on the HD instead of a recovery disc, though there is generally an option to burn one in the start menu.

Same with one of mine. I'm wondering whether the site is merely checking to see if the domain is using godaddy's name servers (mine don't) rather than lookup and parse the Whois info (the only way to really tell).
