Perhaps you're just missing the complexity of the real world? I'm working on quite big finite element desktop applications, where alone the reading of the data can take up quite a bit of time. The user can then apply all kinds of

I think my point is: yes, the fear is irrational, but you're not irrational because you have the fear. Or saying it the other way, you can't be just rational and the fear will disappear. So it's quite unempathic to think abou

Please don't directly connect irrationality with anxiety. Sure, there's a connection between the rational and emotional parts in humans, but this doesn't mean that being anxious automatically means being irrational. Quite a f

I know about that anxiety, what other people might think about you. The problem with anxiety is, that you just want to get rid of it, the anxiety hinders you in a way to look at it, to reflect about it. Instead of trying to get rid of it, i

If you've performance reviews, then you also most likely have some kind of metric, and if you've a metric people will start to game it. A colleague of mine always said: you get what you measure.

What you're saying sounds more like social anxiety than shyness. There's a difference between the two and shyness is more about being bit overwhelmed of new social situations than to be afraid of them.
