So then the article boils down to, doing things well is good and doing things poorly is bad? Not arguing against speed, just poorly-executed speed.

What did they lie about in your opinion? CC is using the rust version right now. > a single app I mean this is a very silly way to describe one of the most used developer tools in the world, don’t you think?

For sure. And honestly the real skill is knowing when you can be lazy and when you will get a good ROI on a good prompt. Sorry I sounded a little like Claude there but that’s what I meant to say.

In this case they didn’t know what they were looking for. They just wanted some new, non-trivial exploit. For the vast majority of corporate usage of AI for SWE, you have a much better idea of what you want, or what the problem is, etc etc.

Doing engineering with processes that are suboptimal with respect to a subset of the goals of engineering doesn’t somehow make it not engineering.

We use science and technology to design, build, and maintain complex systems that solve real-world problems. Do you have some other definition of engineering that excludes SWE?

What we do is absolutely engineering, there’s just a lot less credentialing upfront and rigor before something is released, because usually people’s lives do not depend on it and it’s easy to release updates. But it is indeed engineering, a

Sorry you think they’re not going to continue developing and improving bun and making it more idiomatic? Given the success of the port so far and the fact that CC is now running on rust Bun, that seems highly unlikely to me.

The AI can absolutely refuse, what are you talking about? These things can and do say “sorry I won’t help you with that” based on the nature of your request. What do you call that if not a refusal?
