Care to elaborate on what we do when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow, then?

How do you power the grid with 90% solar when the sun only shines 40% of the day during the winter? Renewable optimists consistently under-estimate the storage problem by orders of magnitude. We don't have enough batteries on Earth to

Neither of us were in the room, but it sounds like the doctors did the former. They diagnosed with FND, a real physical disease (although kind of a catch-all diagnosis with no tests or treatment, like CFS), and recommended that therapy may

Even if a doctor believes a patient, what are they supposed to do against a disease with no tests and no treatment?

What should the doctor have done instead? By all accounts, there is no way to test for or to treat CFS. Assuming it is real, and OPs wife did have it, what is to be done? The doctor ruled everything else out, and now there is nothing more t

Using WhatApp is not a "crime". There were no laws broken. This is just some regulators giving out fines because they can't spy on employee's private messages. If bureaucrats were on my ass about something so stupid, I w

Let's take as a given that heavier cars are more dangerous to be around. An individual who needs to commute by car has two options: 1) put themselves and their family in greater danger by driving a lighter car. 2) protect themselves an

It's extremely frustrating as a car enthusiast. Even a tiny 2 door sports car like the bmw m240 is almost 4000 pounds! I want a fast, light car that isn't 20+ years old and falling apart.

EVs are not "way heavier". They are a couple hundred pounds heavier than comparable ice cars on average. And all that extra weight is in the battery. Over time, batteries will shrink to the point where EVs are lighter on average.

The issue is different people mean different things when they say "optimization". For some developers, giving any consideration to the performance of your chosen architecture and data structures is "premature optimization&quo

That advice is only for micro optimizations. It doesn't make sense to spend a week aggressively optimizing one function unless you know that function is a bottleneck and the optimization is worth it. But many developers take that to me

OP's whole point is that paying for a car is a much more dignified and enjoyable way to travel. And then the tax base doesn't want to pay to improve public transit, because they already have a car.

I disagree. The CLI is inherently a super-user oriented interface. The CLI needs to let an experienced user be as productive as possible. If you need a pretty UI with everything spelled out, you should go on GitHub and find a GUI that som

Why is that a problem? That's how unix does it as well. A file path is just a sequence of bytes. Don't try to validate it in any sort of encoding, it's just bytes that the OS uses to identify a file.
